Weekly Photo Challenge:UNIQUE/Wild Weekly Photo Challenge:FLOWERS
“That is what life means, a unique presence, essential in every creature.”
David Malouf
This week, the Weekly Photo Challenge is “Unique”, and the Let’s Be Wild Weekly Challenge is “Flowers”. For both themes I dipped into the archives and chose two photographs from a trip to South Africa several years ago. The shot above was taken at the Cape of Good Hope – a glorious, must-see natural wonder. This fellow was happily chewing away on a daisy, one of the hundreds around the site. We found it unique that an animal as wild as a baboon would so totally undisturbed by the humans all around him. His vegetarian lunch, we supposed, meant that we and the other tourists were paying attention to the many signs warning us NOT to feed the baboons. One look at his teeth and you didn’t have to warn us twice 🙂
“He teaches us from the animals of the land, and from the birds of the Heavens He makes us wise.”
Job 35:11
My second photo was taken in the Cape Town, South Africa Botanical Garden. The incredibly bright blue head belongs to a Helmeted Guineafowl who seemed to be enjoying the flowers as much as we were. We found his beautiful coloring added a unique beauty to the wide spectrum that was already there.
Albert Einstein said we should “widen our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” Guess he knew about more than the theory of relativity, no?
Stunning photos!
Thanks Cindy!
Dear Tina…Ehem…Are you sure it was a DAISY what he was eating? I do not know…His eyes have a suspicious look…:)
Wonderful pics…
Oh my, I sure hope so but you’ve got a point about his eyes!! Thanks for stopping by!
🙂
Both very beautiful pictures – taken on my doorstep. 🙂
A very beautiful place Rosa; we loved it there. Thanks for your comment!
I love these take on the challenge. I can’t choose which my favorite is – but because the latter has more color and the hen is pretty, I will go for the second one. 🙂

The guineafowl looks like he’s(she’s?) trying to be a flamingo dancer! Two great shots, Tina.

“…unique that an animal as wild as a baboon

What I didn’t say was that the baboons very very sggressive going after human food! This one was the exception 🙂
