Weekly Photo Challenge: HOME /Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: GREEN
“Wonderful images are hiding almost everywhere, if you just look.”
Brenda Tharp
This week, the Weekly Photo Challenge is “HOME”, and the Let’s Be Wild Weekly Challenge is “Green”. After spending several days with professional photographer Brenda Tharp, I was able to creatively combine these two themes. Brenda’s focus (pun intended) is very much on finding the beauty all around us, which for me meant close to home.
“The challenge as artists is to find something interesting in the everyday, familiar things around you.”
Brenda Tharp
Part of our two-day workshop with Brenda included sunrise and sunset photo shoots. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided to gift us with two days of miserable (but much needed) rain 😦 So our challenge was that much greater since we were shooting around our own beautiful Kiawah Island. Here, nature is everywhere but finding it in the pouring rain made it quite the test for us all.
“Use the heart along with the mind to make great pictures.”
Brenda Tharp
I learned many things working with Brenda this week, but most importantly I learned that beauty is indeed there if you take the time to look for it, no matter what the conditions. I had to work much harder to see with my heart, versus my eyes, but it was well worth the effort. My thanks to Brenda for her enthusiasm, her patience, and her willingness to share her knowledge. You took good advantage of the opportunities that these plants offer. I hope you took all your tips from Brenda Tharp and none from the ends of the agave leaves.
LOL 🙂 Thanks for the early morning smile Steve!

Tina, love all of your Agaves images, especially the first one. The color and lighting on the plant is alluring and certainly invites a second or third look. Beautiful composition. Great work!
