Weekly Photo Challege – Off Season
“To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
This week, a simple response to Krista’s “Off-Season” challenge. I captured this scene last year at the end of summer on our beautiful Kiawah beach. The fog was rolling in, a lone walker was taking advantage of the solitude, and some end-of-season shore birds dotted the landscape. The tourists had returned to their lives offshore and it was time for those of us who make our homes here to reclaim our peaceful little island. Our lovely, serene off-season is my favorite time of year.
βLive in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.β
Henry David Thoreau
The second version of my off-season shot has been texturized with some effects by French Kiss. To quote Sally of Lens and Pens, which do you prefer and why? π. Once you’ve given me your thoughts, click here for some other bloggers’ off-season offerings
I ordinarily don’t like treatments but I love this one.
This is a great question to ask of these two photos. For the most part, I would always choose the natural shot, but the layer you added offers something that definitely speaks to ‘off-season’ and it is a bit more emotional. Both great photos, but in this case I prefer your second shot.
Thanks Randall. I’ve since had several requests for prints of that one so I guess it struck a chord. Love it when that happens!
Layers just add a little something to any image- Love it!
Gorgeous Tina. Late in posting this week. For me the second is the winner because of its painterly quality. It would make a beautiful watercolour. I may just give it a try π
