Trio – Weekly Photo Challenge

THREE SPROUTS

I’ve chosen to respond to this week’s TRIO challenge with an image from a photo shoot this month with visiting professionals Arnie Zann and Margo Pinkerton.  Arnie and Margo challenged us to “find the light” as well as our own vision. Following their presentation, we spent a few hours on a friend’s beautiful riverfront property to see where our lenses would lead us. Happily, several of my shots did feature trios 😄. Mother Nature gifted us with a glorious evening, during which I also created the shots shown below.

Professional photographers can help us to improve our technique; we can buy more and better equipment; we can even learn to “see” what others may not. What we choose to do with what we see, ah, now there’s where true creativity comes in.

Arnie and Margo have an interesting feature in their lectures called Same Place/Different View. Each of them will photograph the same exact scene – yet their shots look nothing alike. They challenged the photographers in our group to visit the same place at the same time, yet make images that were ours alone. Interestingly, we succeeded admirably in the uniqueness of our images.

If I’d found THREE lines in the mud flats shot above, it would have fit perfectly with the theme. Unfortunately, there are only two. So the photo above, and those that follow, are simply favorites from the shoot. Enjoy!

I’ve chosen to close with the photograph above because I love what it represents. It’s was a beautiful evening with an amazing red sky. The light was very nearly gone – we could barely see to shoot. Yet there was a fellow photographer still working the scene, “capturing the light” (what little there was). And there I was behind her, capturing the moment. What could be better than that?!
