Beach Patterns: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge
“Leave behind on the fabric of this planet a pattern of yourself.”
Dominic Rouse
This week Ann-Christine has challenged us to find patterns; man-made or natural, home or away. As one who loves the patterns often found in the sand of our beautiful beach, I’ve chosen to share a few of my recent favorites.
“Find beauty not only in the thing itself but in the pattern of the shadows, light and darkness which it provides.”
Junichiro Tanizaki
Sometimes the patterns are created by the wind, other times by the waves, and sometimes, as in the capture below, by the beautiful creatures who frequent our shores.
“Art is pattern informed by sensibility.”
Herbert Read
Mother Nature gifts us with patterns everywhere. Her delicate footprints can often be found alongside our own at ocean’s edge. Happily, our avian neighbors seem to enjoy them as much as we do.
“We artists have been affected by patterns in nature since day one.”
Kristi Bridgeman
Thanks to Ann-Christine for this week’s interesting challenge. For more information on how to participate, click here. Remember to tag your post “Lens-Artists” to make sure it appears in our reader section.

I love patterns created by sand and sea.
Great collection!
Many thanks MM
I agree. Sand makes very interesting patters. Love the first one especially!
Thanks Svetlana!
I also remember that you had wonderful patterns from your trip to China. Amazing shots of plowed green hills. You took them with your Nikon, right? I wonder if the Fuji would do as well.
I did, the rice fields were amazing. It would be an interesting comparison. Bet I wouldn’t need the tripod 😊
Ha-ha!
Beautiful images Tina, I so love all these patterns in the sand and by the sea :o) xxx
Thanks Xenia-amazing aren’t they?

You’re photos are so great, I can almost feel a breeze from the sea coming through my window – and the sea is 400 km away!
Now that’s what I call a compliment Rabirius! Many thanks
You’re very welcome!
Great patterns. The Birds The Birds is my favorite. They are about to spell out the word Crickets. How do I know this? Intuition. Don’t ask, don’t tell.
LOL, I’m sure you’re right John!! Thanks for stopping by

My pleasure Ann-Christine. Thanks for the opportunity to post them!
Beaches are great sources of patterns – and your own beach is always marvelous! I love the natural patterns best of all patterns, and your captures are real treats. Thank you, Tina!
The pictures really touched my soul. As much as I spent six weeks on a beach in Portugal, I never thought to take pictures of the sand shapes. O once took a lot of pictures of snow from the top od the French Alps, and my daughter asked why I took so many pictures of snow. So, that kind of stopped me, but no more missing the beauty beneath my feet. Thank you.
Such a lovely compliment – what could be better than to touch someone’s soul?! Thanks so much for letting me know your thoughts
All the shades of grey in ‘the bird the birds’….so very pretty, Tina.
Thanks Lois, it was such a lovely, soft light that day
